Hotel history
Marco Polo Hotel St.Petersburg is located in an ancient building, officially recognized
architectural monument. The hotel's interiors resemble an aristocratic house of the 19th century. The hotel has stored
original interior details of the old foundation and pre-revolutionary artifacts: 2
richly decorated snow-white tiled fireplace and ascetic wood-burning stove, wide front door
staircase with preserved original mosaic fragments on the floor, decorative elements of the facade -

fully experienced the atmosphere of “Old Petersburg”.
In 1874, according to the design of the architect Fedor Rudolph built a five-story house No. 27 on the 12th line of Vasilievsky Island for a secret Advisor Nikolai Vasilievich Kalachev.
On February 18, 1898, the house opened its doors to ordinary residents of St. Petersburg as a folk
at home. He was supported by Vera Nikolaevna von Derviz, known for her charitable work.

Until 1917, on the ground floor there was a reading room and a library, as well as music classes,
equipped with grand pianos. In memory of this, the piano still decorates the Marco Polo Hotel restaurant. On the second

After the Revolution, the building became a club for workers of the neighboring tobacco factory named after M.S. Uritsky.
In 1928-1933, the Mobile Musical Theater was located in the premises of house No. 27, and since 1933

The official opening of the hotel took place in 2005.
